Climate Alliance Germany calls on state-owned KfW banking group to divest from coal

On 15 August 2013 Climate Alliance Germany kick-started the campaign “KfW – divest from coal!”

On that day the KfW banking group presented its quarterly results. Climate-alliance Germany has taken this opportunity to demand a policy change for the state-owned KfW banking group. Climate Alliance Germany calls on the bank to reconsider its support for the construction of the lignite-fired power plant Ptolemaida V in Greece. KfW should not promote the global expansion of coal-fired power plants and coal infrastructure! Promoting yesterday’s technology is a very disputable form of aid for the Greek state. Instead, KfW should focus on supporting next generation technologies such as photovoltaics and wind power, for which Greece is ideally situated. Learn more about the campaign.
